ASSERTION

Assertion is the forceful statement of or insistence on one’s beliefs, claims, rights. or the like. It does not mean being aggressive in which someone else may feel threatened or disrespected.

Assertiveness is a social skill that relies heavily on effective communication while simultaneously respecting the thoughts and wishes of others.

Being assertive means:

  • Being honest about your feelings, your opinions, or even your rights.
  • Speaking up for one’s right without disrespecting anyone else’s.
